Video Production in Doncaster: Creating Plant-Fit’s Introduction Film

When Plant-Fit approached us about creating a new introduction film, they needed a short, high-energy piece that could be shown immediately before Managing Director James delivered a keynote speech.

The film needed to capture the attention of a live audience, introduce the scale of Plant-Fit's operation and create a sense of anticipation before James walked onto the stage. It also needed to make sense without the speech, giving Plant-Fit a useful piece of video marketing content that could continue generating awareness through its website and social media channels after the event.

Finding the right style for the result Plant-Fit wanted

Plant-Fit already had an idea of the close-up visual style they liked and shared a reference featuring tight details of machinery and working processes. We used that as a starting point for some of the shot choices, then discussed how the film would be used, who would be watching it and what the audience needed to understand by the end.

The reference gave us useful visual guidance for the close-up shots. During the planning discussions, we suggested structuring the film around a condensed customer journey, beginning with the first phone call and continuing through to machinery being delivered on site. This gave the finished video a clear narrative that could introduce the business without relying on the speech for context, while the keynote brief shaped the faster pace, driving music and higher-energy edit.

For us, that conversation is an important part of the video production process, as reference films can help identify the particular shots or visual details a client likes. From there, we can develop those ideas into a film that is shaped around the audience, the intended platform and the result the client wants to achieve.

Turning a broad business into one clear story

The business has four core areas, Plant-Fit, Re-Fit, Plantguard and FME, so the film needed to represent a broad range of work within a short running time. We wanted viewers to understand the scale of the operation, recognise the different services and see the people and processes that keep everything moving.

Working with the Plant-Fit team, we shaped the main section of the film around a condensed customer journey that begins when an enquiry reaches the office and continues through to machinery arriving on site:

  • A customer call reaching the office
  • Job information being passed to the relevant team
  • Machinery being prepared, cleaned and checked
  • Equipment receiving its Ready to Hire tag
  • Machines being loaded for delivery
  • Plant-Fit vehicles leaving the yard
  • Machinery working on location

This journey gave the audience an easy way to follow the film and allowed us to feature the different areas of the business as part of one connected process.

Planning the video production

Once we had agreed the story, we broke it down into the people, locations, machinery and actions needed for filming. We created a detailed shot list and planned how each action could lead naturally into the next, giving us the coverage needed to build a fast-paced edit while keeping the customer journey easy to follow.

We also planned around the way the audience would experience the finished film at the event. People might still be talking or settling into their seats when it began, so the opening needed to establish the energy quickly and give them a reason to look towards the screen.

The intended use influenced the choice of music, camera movement, shot length and overall pace, while the wider video marketing plan meant every section also had to work for someone discovering Plant-Fit online for the first time.

Filming Plant-Fit's people, machinery and processes

Filming took place across Plant-Fit's operation and at active external locations, allowing us to capture the office, workshop, yard, staff, vehicles and machinery being prepared for work. We also filmed Plant-Fit equipment operating on site, which showed viewers where the process leads once a machine leaves the yard.

We used a mixture of camera techniques to give the film scale, movement and variety. Drone footage established the size of the locations and operation, action-camera shots brought the audience closer to processes such as cleaning and preparing machinery, and detailed close-ups highlighted controls, tools, company branding and Ready to Hire tags.

That mixture gave us enough variety to keep the film moving, with every section helping to introduce a new part of the business or connect two stages of the customer journey.

Creating the fast-paced edit

The finished introduction film combines a driving music track with short shots, movement and carefully timed transitions, creating the energy Plant-Fit wanted for the keynote event. Actions connect across the edit so the company feels coordinated and viewers can follow the journey from the first phone call through to machinery operating on site.

We gave each stage enough screen time to remain understandable, because the film also needed to work without James providing the context immediately afterwards. Someone seeing it on LinkedIn or visiting the Plant-Fit website can still understand the size of the company, the services it provides and the work involved in getting equipment ready for customers.

Using one video across events, websites and social media

Planning the wider use of the film from the beginning gave Plant-Fit an asset with value beyond the keynote event. The completed video can now support several areas of its marketing:

  • Opening keynote speeches and company presentations
  • Introducing Plant-Fit to potential customers
  • Generating awareness through LinkedIn and other social platforms
  • Giving website visitors a quick overview of the business
  • Supporting conversations with partners, suppliers and prospective employees
  • Providing footage for shorter social media edits

This type of short promotional film works well for video marketing because it gives people a quick and memorable introduction to a business, using real staff, equipment, locations and working processes to show what the company is capable of delivering.
